Molto Bene, Pablo

Lest you think I've lost my mind over all of that black and steel from yesterday, I'm featuring a home that just might show that all is not lost. What you see here is the 1970s Park Avenue apartment of Pablo. And just who is Pablo, you ask? Why, he's Count Paolo Michelangelo Zappi-Manzoni, former Creative Director of Elizabeth Arden and makeup artist extraordinaire.

What initially caught my eye was all of that layered richness. Each piece in the home was exquisite, whether due to its finish, its shape, or its color. Yes, it has that air of European formality to it (no surprise considering Pablo's Italian aristocratic heritage), but frankly I find it only adds to the apartment's allure. But what I am really wowed by are the walls. Look closely at the photo below. The walls were stried with a soft coffee color over a white background, and the paint was given a lacquered sheen by mixing in gallons of clear nail polish. Maybe that makes it wall maquillage?
